The Central Mental Hospital operates a cluster model of care and is divided into three clusters.
High Care Cluster: Unit B, Unit A and Unit 4
Medium Care Cluster: Medium Secure and Rehabilitation: Units 2, 3
Recovery and Community Cluster: Patients in Unit 7 and the Hostel ward, along with one community high support residence and a day service.
In addition to the provision of inpatient care the hospital provides:
- A court liaison and diversion scheme to Clover Hill Prison
- A prison in-reach service to all prisons in the Dublin Region and prisons in the Midlands
- Forensic Mental Health Assessments to other prisons and Adult Mental Health Services in Ireland
